Innovative Community Assistance to Restore and Empower (ICARE) also referred to as Initiative for Community Assistance to Restore and Empower is a nonprofit organization established to fight hunger, support communities and empower families with children.
Our mission focuses on Health Care, Education, Community Empowerment, and Eradicating Hunger in Africa communities. Our core values are education, empowerment, exposure, and equality for all people.
Before becoming a registered entity, a group of us traveled to Nigeria in West Africa to experience the struggle that families and children go through daily. We can proudly say that for the past thirty-nine months, our team was able to successfully manage and implement developmental projects in several communities in three local governments in Oyo State, Nigeria.
Some of the novel initiatives include Malaria, TB control medical outreach, women and youths empowerment programs, HIV and AIDS projects at community settings and workplace, community/market based distribution of health services, Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health (ASRH) awareness projects, delivering food and other materials to senior citizens, orphans and widows, giving out scholarship money to children, empowering people with disabilities, and repairing/renovating infrastructure in public schools.
Others include paid hospital bills of people referred for surgery, giving support to people that tested positive for HIV, and Distribution of Long Lasting Insecticides Nets (LLINs).
